Sunday Funday Breakdown

6 Jun

Dude, is it Sunday already!?

I’m actually very excited that it’s Sunday because tonight is the MTV Movie Awards and I definitely voted this year. To be honest, I had some trouble with the voting process because Harry Potter and The Twilight Saga basically took over nearly every category this year. Both franchises scored at the UK National Movie Awards, which made me really excited, and I’m hoping they can own the MTV Movie Awards as well. The problem I had with voting is that I love both stories so much that I literally had to watch each video presented within each category to objectively make my voting choices.

For the Best Female category Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger and Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, were both nominated and I was literally sitting at my computer talking to myself saying, “how in the hell am I supposed to choose between these two?! It’s like choosing between life and death!” Okay, maybe not to that extreme but it was a tough decision. In the end I chose KStew because of how well she conveyed the emotion of heartbreak in New Moon. Emma Watson did a fantastic job but her character doesn’t go through nearly as many steep emotional changes like KStew’s. I have an inkling that The Twilight Saga is going to dominate because it’s because the fans (like me) are so devoted, haha.

In other news, I bought The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner last night (I didn’t feel like driving 45 minutes to the closest Borders when they weren’t even having a legit midnight release party, just staying open ’til 1am to sell the book. No activities, no prizes, no nothing, so I opted out. I’m on page 46 at the moment and so far so good. It’s truly an interesting perspective because there hasn’t been an opportunity to understand the life of a newborn through that perspective until now. Yeah, I know we get to with Bella but her experience was completely different. From what I’ve read so far, I’m quite pleased because it’s just so new and exciting, and more importantly very informative and interesting. We’ll see how it pans out.

Speaking of exciting, I came across this really awesome article over at the Simplified Bee about tips on how to decorate a bookcase like an interior designer and I came across this particular photo/idea that I really liked and felt inspired by.

I’m not too sure if I would cover every inch of these shelves with books because I think it would take away from it, which you can see in the photo with how it’s not too cluttered with books or knick knacks. What I like about this design is the wallpaper behind the shelves. The color and the pattern of the wallpaper is what immediately stands out and breaks up the simplistic design of the shelves. The knee-high sideboard cabinets are pretty sweet too. I like that they aren’t cluttered up with obnoxious handles.

The fact that wall is recessed in this photo makes the entire design work very well but I think this would also work on a traditional wall because it doesn’t really protrude outward from the wall in an obtrusive kind of way, which will still make it as equally functional as if it were situated in a recessed wall like the photo. Overall, the article provided an excellent variety of suggestions/ideas with coordinating photos for bookcase design. Definitely check it out!

Last but not least, Bellatrix is healing quite well after her surgery 10 days ago. She bounced right back to herself almost immediately. We’re supposed to keep her in a cage for 10 days and keep that cone thing on her head so she won’t lick the stitches, which I did keep her in the cage (w/ food, water, litterbox and toys) with the stupid cone on, but that didn’t last for long.

At first I was letting her out of the cage to run around the room and stretch her legs while I’d clean it or just for a few minutes here and there each day, then I took the cone off because she kept working her way out of it anyway, and she hasn’t touched the stitches at all. I have been keeping her in the cage over night until last night when I just let her loose in my room, but she wasn’t even running around because she was right in bed with me all night like she normally does. I’m just happy that she’s doing so well.

I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend!
